LeBoeuf Little League

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Garry Sargent called the meeting to order at 8:50 pm.
ATTENDANCE: Garry Sargent, Brian Webster, Darlene Haibach, Jeff Kuzma, Colleen Strain, Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Brian Mitchell, Mike Falk, Mike Hering, Bob Young, Steve Krolczyk, Mark Rose
SECRETARY: The minutes were read and corrections were made
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was read by Darlene Haibach and approved by Mike Hering and seconded by Ed Vorpagel. See attached report.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Darlene Haibach stated all of the uniforms have been paid and distributed. 33 boxes of candy still unsold. A suggestion was made to sell the candy for $20 per box—Garry will post this information on the website. The stromboli orders will be delivered May 17. Per Steve Krolczyk, field signs will be ready this week.
PICTURE COMMISSIONER: Mike Hering stated picture day went well. The Junior boys and girls and a T-Ball team will have their pictures done this week as the majority of these players were out of town on a school function. Pictures will be handed out with the stromboli order May 17. Next year’s picture day will be the first weekend in May, 2009.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry Sargent stated the website has been down due to technical issues. Darlene stated Joy Greco will provide the state grant information as soon as we have our tax exempt number, which takes 4-6 weeks; $5000.00 is the maximum that can be received. There may be money available for lighting, but Darlene will follow up with Joy Greco regarding lighting information.
BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Mark Rose stated the 9 and older leagues have already started and the rest will begin next week. The final schedules are available for the minors. Mark stated there have been numerous complaints regarding the new pitching rules. Mark said May 30 will be difficult to find umpires for as many of them are unavailable that day due to evening school activities, but Val is still working on it
SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Ed Vorpagel reported the minor and major girls have begun games already. No other updates available.
UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Garry said hats have been ordered and shirts will be ordered from the Erie Sports Store, by Ed Vorpagel.
TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: Money is due for the district tournament now, which Darlene will take care of. per Garry. As of now, the girls and boys each have 4 teams participating for a total of 8 teams.
SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No updates.
UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Uniforms have already been dispersed.
FIELD MAINTENANCE Jeff Kuzma suggested the Complex fields should have high fencing down both first and third base sides. He also suggested the Robison field needs a new backstop and higher fencing. Quotes will be received from "Hi-T Fencing" by Steve Lesik. Showman’s to hydro seed the fields after the season is over, but all of the other work by Showman’s is completed. Steve Lesik is in the process of boarding the windows of the concession trailer at the Complex due to the vandalism over the winter. Per Brian Mitchell, the tractor is at Pennock’s now for routine maintenance. Mark Rose suggested there be a list kept at the fields for people to sign when they have mowed, to help keep track of when the mowing has been done and when the fluids on the tractor need to be re-filled. Parents need to be encouraged to help trim the fence lines. Jeff Kuzma and Brian Mitchell made a motion for cow mats to be placed for 3 fields, of which Mike Hering will take care of
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: Darlene will send the balance of the insurance bill due June 7, 2008.
EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: The new equipment has been purchased and handed out.
OLD BUSINESS: Per Randy Amon, all equipment and First-Aid Kits have been purchased and dispersed.
NEW BUSINESS: Brian Mitchell suggested we purchase nine hockey-style catcher’s mask and helmets. Brian also suggested the league purchase headgear for the pitchers and that the league should reimburse the parents if they purchase them on their own. Mike Falk suggested we make or purchase batting nets-Garry will do research on the nets. Garry spoke with a woman from Emergycare who is trying to set up a "Challenger Division" in 2009 for physically challenged kids ages 5-12. LLL players would "buddy" up with the challenged players and help them. Mark Rose made a motion to accept and Ed Vorpagel seconded. Mark Rose said the All Star meeting will be Sunday, June 1 at 7:00 at the Waterford Boro Building
