LeBoeuf Little League
March 13, 2008
The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Garry Sargent called the meeting to order at 8:16 pm.
ATTENDANCE: Garry Sargent, Brian Webster, Darlene Haibach, Jeff Kuzma, Stuart Carr, Colleen Strain, Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Brian Mitchell, Mike Falk, Mike Hering, John Carr and Bob Young, Stuart Carr, Brian Smith, Doug Brace, Mark and Laura Lockhart, Steve Krolczyk and Rod Sorenson
SECRETARY: The minutes were read, corrections were made and Mark Rose motioned to accept, seconded by Mike Falk.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was read by Darlene Haibach and approved by Brian Webster and seconded by Mark Rose. See attached report.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: As for this season’s registration--383 kids registered; 30 late registrations. Per Darlene, 43 families have not paid for candy yet and uniforms will be held until candy is paid for. Paul Peters will oversee the stromboli orders.
PICTURE COMMISSIONER: No updates
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry stated the website is updated. Also per Garry, per Little League, LLL is covered under tax exempt status and updated information regarding the 5013C paperwork was mailed. Per Darlene, Joy Greco will be able to give us specifics regarding what LLL is entitled to when the tax exempt paperwork is updated.
BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Per Mark Rose, there were 19 girls and 46 boys signed up for T-ball, including late sign-ups and all coaches have been chosen. 7 & 8 year olds will have 6 teams with 11 or 12 per team and all teams are set with coaches. 9& 10 year olds have 60 kids-5 teams of 12 and all coaches chosen. 11 & 12 year olds have 2 teams of 12 and 1 team of 13 for total of 37 players; final coaches are being worked on. 13 & 14 year olds have 41 or 42 players with either 3 or 4 teams and there are 3 coaches available. Garry unsure on 15 & 16 year old teams, yet. Mark reported a lot of T-ball kids had asked to move up to 5-8 year olds; Mark is not feeling this is a good idea and suggested having kids possibly tryout for the older teams. Mark will contact the parents who requested the move up.
SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Ed Vorpagel reported there are 3 teams for instructional, 3 for minor, 3 for major and 2 junior teams. Ed stated they have plenty of coaches lined up.
UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: 12 kids signed up for umpiring.
TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: Per Mark Rose, LLL will host 9 and 10 year old minor girls district tournament. There will be a tournament in Saegertown in April. Garry stated the Harborcreek tournament is still on. Per Tom Roberts, there will be a 9 & 10 year old boys developement tournament and 9 & 10 year old district girls' developement tournament.
SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: Shelly McCall will take care of the scheduling
UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Per Brian Smith, shirt prices will need to be increased by five cents per shirt, due to shipping cost increases.
FIELD MAINTENANCE No new report.
EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: Mark Rose stated Scott Staal will take the pitching machine to Horwath Electric for repair work
OLD BUSINESS: Darlene reported there was only 1 check that was returned from sign ups, for a fee of $10.00 and stated she will whold the player's uniform until she collects the returned check fee.
NEW BUSINESS: Jeff Kuzma thought it would be a good idea to send thank-you notes to the schools for allowing us to have the open-gyms. Sponsor signs will stay at $150.00; LLL will need to sell 20 to get a discount. Steve Krolczyk said he will get more field number signs for all of the fields. Jeff Kuzma mentioned on April 5, there will be a "corn toss" at the middle school to benefit the boosters.
