LeBoeuf Little League

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Garry Sargent called the meeting to order at 8:58 pm.
ATTENDANCE: Stuart Carr, Frank Conti, John Carr, Paul Peters, Greg Roberts, Heather Johnston, Val Rose, Mark McNearny, Garry Sargent, Brian Webster, Darlene Haibach, Jeff Kuzma, Colleen Strain, Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Brian Mitchell, Mike Falk, Mike Hering, Bob Young, Steve Krolczyk, Mark Rose
SECRETARY: The minutes were read and corrections were made
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was read by Darlene Haibach and approved by Brian Mitchell and seconded by Paul Peters. See attached report. Darlene reported Pulakos candy is still available.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Paul Peters stated Stromboli orders have been dispersed; 9888 had been sold and LLL will make about $9500. However, there is money still pending from a few families. Jeff Kuzma reported the "West End Community Center" has donated $500 to the LLL to be used for field improvements. Heather Johnston from Emergycare was present and spoke about the "Challenger Division" to hopefully begin in 2009; Garry will look into the grant process through the Little League.
PICTURE COMMISSIONER: No new updates.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry Sargent stated the website is still down due to technical issues.
BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Mark Rose stated next week is the last week of play for the Majors and Juniors.
SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Ed Vorpagel states the 3 Major Teams took first and second places at the Harborcreek Tournament.
UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Val Rose said she needs to know what umpires will be available for All Stars. Darlene Haibach reported that Mark Welka donated $50 to the LLL, as he was so impressed by Greg Roberts’ umpiring skills. Mark wishes the money to be utilized to purchase something for the umpires.
TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: The Development Tournament will be July 9-13 at the Waterford Complex. There are entries from Millcreek (2 teams), Corry and Iroquois, Fairview, LakeCity and Girard. Mark Rose spoke about having a concession stand-he will check with the FLB Boosters to see if they’re interested-all of the proceeds will benefit whoever decides to man the booth. The Major Boys will be playing in the NorthEast Tournament June 19-22.
SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No updates.
UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: The hats have been ordered for the All Stars at the Erie Sports Store. Brian Smith will take care of ordering the All Star shirts.
FIELD MAINTENANCE Stuart Carr will look into purchasing a new tractor through Miller Brothers. The price of the fencing from "Hi-T" (100 feet on top and 75 feet on bottom) would be $10,450.00
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: Darlene stated the balance of the insurance bill has been paid and the rosters have been completed.
EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: The new equipment has been purchased and handed out.
OLD BUSINESS: No updates.
NEW BUSINESS: Garry stated the Legion asked to borrow the field limer. Mike Herring said there is an extra limer in the trailer. Darlene reported 3 checks have been returned from the Stromboli orders. The 3 point hitch to the tractor is missing, per Garry. There was much discussion regarding new parents involvement in LLL—this will be discussed further and in greater detail at the upcoming meetings, during the off-season.
