LeBoeuf Little League

June 8, 2006

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Rod Smith called the meeting to order at 9:14 pm.

ATTENDANCE: Rod Smith, Garry Sargent, Garrett Sargent, Stuart Carr, Michael Falk, Joe Welch, Jeff Luke, Ed Vorpagel, Joe McCall, Shelly McCall, Bryon Laskowski, Nicole Blore, Jacque D’Amico, Darlene Newell, Kate Orr, Bambi Smathers, Jeff Jones, Frank Conti, Val Rose, Jeff Kuzma, Brian Mitchell, Kevin Litz, Darlene Haibach, Steph Mitchell and Rod Smith.

SECRETARY: The minutes were read and approved by Mark Rose and seconded by Joe Welch.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Income $17,018.00, Expenses $15,506.33, The Bank account has been switched to Northwest Savings Bank. Report was approved by Brian Mitchell and seconded by Jeff Luke.

VISITORS: There was a baseball concern where a game was forfeited between 2 LeBoeuf teams. Resolution for future:

    1. Leave ump calls as is.
    2. Coaches not to question in front of parents or athletes.
    3. Discuss and maintain situation.
    4. Do not use email as a form of communication to try and resolve issues in games.
    5. If regular meeting is too far in future, call commissioners to organize meeting to resolve the issue.

SPECIAL PROJECTS:

    1. Stromboli’s had a profit of roughly $8,000.00.
    2. At next meeting need to decide on Pulako’s fund raiser.
    3. Should we consider the Coca-Cola coupons?

PICTURE COMMISSIONER: No problems this year. Sonneys framed team photos in error for free and will continue for future. Next season date is May 5, 2007.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Jerry Uht LeBoeuf Little League day is June 17, 2006. Kids get in free and then discounted tickets for $5.00 to family members. Brandon Lavery did a fantastic job at the complex with the landscaping around the new LeBoeuf Little League Sign. Polo’s are in and are for sale for $25.00

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Senior League started their games. Need adult umpires for Senior League games. Garry’s tournament will use 4 fields every 2 hours at the complex. High school field will be on stand by and summit #2 if needed. National Honor Society students will run the concession stand. 3 port-o-potty’s will be placed between fields 1 & 2. A hand washstand will be rented for 2 days for $85.00. Bob Morgenstern has a permit to handle food and will supply fireworks for Saturday night.

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: The senior girls team is a no go for this season. Junior girls are having a conflict with volleyball. Minor girls tournament will start July 11 and run through the 24th here at the Waterford Complex. Will need to organize the tournament.

UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Please do not call after 4 pm to cancel a game that you are scheduled to ump. It is very difficult for Val to find people at such a late time. Shirts for umps this year will not be available but will definitely be available next season.

TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: Rod has packet to distribute to all District Coaches. District meeting is June 25 from 4-6 and actual meeting is 6-8 at the Harborcreek Municipal Building. Signatures by Rod and Garry need to be on all forms to be turned in for District play. Our Little League # is 2380124.

SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: This is Jeff Luke’s last year. Once District brackets are confirmed please give a copy to Jeff so he can schedule practice fields accordingly.

UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: District Coaches are to be in touch with Brian Smith as soon as their teams have been determined.

FIELD MAINTENANCE:

    1. Will put mats on backstops for fields 2 & 5 at the Waterford Complex for District play, at a cost of approximately $92-95. Stuart Carr made a motion for the mats; this was seconded by Brian Mitchell. All were in favor.
    2. Oil dry was purchased; 50 bags at 40 lbs a bag for about $200.00.
    3. Bruce Coffin will brine the driveways for the boy’s tournament and if Bruce is unable to do then the Waterford Township will do.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: We did have 2 accounts at the Erie Sports Store that was straightened out.

INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: We are insured to practice anywhere in the United States from January to January. If there is an injury claim you have 15 from the date of the injury to file that claim.

OLD BUSINESS:

    1. Waste Management asked for extension on guidelines till May of 2007.
    2. DEP walk through went well, very educational.
    3. Wail till District Play is over to complete the Shields field project.
    4. Vo-Tech does not use cement block for their dugouts.

NEW BUSINESS:

    1. Patty Banta asked if there was a field their ASA team could use; we offered the Landfill field.
    2. July 4 has been cancelled; need to figure out pant return/deposit.

Boys:

9-10 year old boys: Joe McCall (gray)

9-10 year old boys: Frank Conti (blue)

11-year-old boys: Paul Peters

12-year-old boys: Mark Rose, Pat Herr and Jeff Yost

Junior Boys: Garry Sargent, Rod Fucci

Senior Boys: Rich Goodenow

Girls:

9-10 year old girls: Mark Rose (blue)

9-10 year old girls: Ed Vorpagel (gray)

11-year-old girls: Brian Mitchell, Bob Young, Bill Hess

12-year-old girls: Kevin Litz, Chris P.

13-14 year old girls: Jeff Jones

11 teams will cost $825.00. League covers the $75 tournament cost, players need to cover the shirt/hat cost.

MINOR GIRLS DISTRICT PLAY: To be held here at the Waterford complex. Here are a few things that need to be considered and organized prior to the next meeting. Port-o-Potty’s, hand washer, flags, field maintenance schedule, tables at each field for score keepers, umpire schedule, tournament commissioner (2 individuals), Concession stand commissioner and work schedule, point of contact table, bracket display, trophy table, distinguished areas to warm up teams and time frame, have parking area’s designated and perhaps a welcome sign.

ADJOURNMENT: Kevin made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 12:27 pm and this was seconded by Joe Welch.
