LeBoeuf Little League

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Garry Sargent called the meeting to order at 8:08 pm.
ATTENDANCE: Garry Sargent, Brian Webster, Darlene Haibach, Jeff Kuzma, Colleen Strain, Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Brian Mitchell, Mike Falk, Mike Hering, and Bob Young.
SECRETARY: The minutes were reviewed, corrections were made and Ed Vorpagel motioned to accept and seconded by Mike Hering.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Per Darlene, she has "Staples" credit and tax exempt cards for LLL to use to make copies.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Darlene wanted to thank Brianna, Shelby and Brian Mitchell, Julia Boyd, Stuart, Sandy, Nate and Courtney Carr and Bob Young who spend much time separating the candy for the candy sale. As far as the candy for sign-ups, Summit will receive 100 boxes, Mill Village 50 and Waterford 199. The sponsor forms will still be $150 and $300 for both sides. For sign ups, if a parent wants a child to play up in age, they can. However, a child in the older league cannot play down, unless there is a physical disability or handicap. The draft day will be Sunday, March 16 and Garry Sargent will reserve the Waterford Firehall. The coach’s meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, April 13 at the Summit Township Building, Jeff Kuzma to make that arrangement.
PICTURE COMMISSIONER: Per Mike Hering, pictures to be May 3, 2008, at the high school.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry Sargent will update the website’s calendar for the rest of the year’s activities. Mark Rose will check with some of his family members to see if they’re interested in the article writing for the Summit Newsletter.
BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Mark Rose stated there has been a good turnout for the 9 & 10 year old boys’ open gyms. He also stated that the janitorial staffs has asked that the kids and parents change their wet shoes in the hallway instead of tracking water and mud to gym floor. Mark will be purchasing two dozen sponge baseballs for the open gyms. There will be a coaches’ clinic at the NorthEast High School April 20, 2008.
SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Ed Vorpagel stated there has also been a good turnout for the softball open gyms as well.
UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Per Mark Rose, Val Rose will have umpire application forms at the registration nights for those interested in umpiring. Garry stated that Brian Williams is trying to get Iroquois situated with their umpiring, so he will not be as available as he has in the past, but will try to help out with the umpire clinic as much as he can.
TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: Fairview Memorial Tournament will be in July for the 11-year-old boys. Major Girls’ Tournament will be May 16-18 at Harborcreek. Mark Rose stated the boys’ 9 & 10-year-old tournament will take place. All-Star brackets need picked-Tom Roberts to be notified about number of team when done.
SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No report
UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Per Garry, Carrie Hicks has sent LLL information about her silk screening business and her bid will be considered.
FIELD MAINTENANCE Field clean up days to be scheduled for Saturdays-April 19 and April 26.
EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: Pitching machines need looked at again, per Jeff Kuzma. After the draft, equipment ordering will be done at the Erie Sport Store with the following people approved to purchase items: Randy Amon, Jeff Kuzma, Garry Sargent and Ed Vorpagel—Darlene will inform the Erie Sports Store of this information.
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: Insurance needs completed by June 7, per Tom Roberts.
OLD BUSINESS: Garry stated that Tom Roberts is pushing the Little League Safety Program and may need it for future charter. Minor boys and girls’ now have 5-run limit per half inning-no ten plus. Continuous lineups are mandated. Per Garry, per Tom Roberts, when the schedules come out, interdistrict play schedules need completely reviewed. Darlene to see if the "Little League" has any insurance information regarding the "501(3)(C) Tax Determination Letter."
NEW BUSINESS: Jeff Kuzma got a call from Mrs. Hargest, principal of Robison Elementary, that there was a broken window in the gym. Although she is unsure who did it, Jeff told her LLL would pay for the window. Mrs. Hargest said that was not necessary, but just asked that the kids be extra careful at the open gyms. Also, adults to check areas before they leave for the evening.
