LeBoeuf Little League
February 9, 2006
The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. Garry Sargent called the meeting to order at 7:17 pm.
ATTENDANCE: Mike Falk, Garry Sargent, Steph Mitchell, Darlene Haibach, Jeff Jones, Joe Welch, Jim Dylewski, Pat Herr, Randy Amann, Paul Peters, Mike Herring, Brian Smith, Gary Ziegler, Doug Brace, Stuart Carr, Mark Rose, Jeff Kuzma, Brian Mitchell, Kevin Litz, Rod Smith.
SECRETARY: The minutes were read and approved by Garry Sargent and seconded by Joe Welch. (correction under umpire section to read umpire/travel expenses).
TREASURER’S REPORT: Income $280.00, Expenses $215.60. Approved by Mike Falk and seconded by Joe Welch.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Sponsorship going well. Candy to be delivered at various sites for sign-ups. A sample of shirt sizes will be displayed at the various sign up sites. Coupons for the fundraiser have not come in yet. A $20 buy out or candy will be done as the fundraiser. Strombolli price will be raised to $2.50. The Strombolli information will be handed out to the coaches at the coaches meeting. Strombolli orders will be due on May 6 and pick up on May 20 and money due on May 27.
PICTURE COMMISSIONER: Picture Day set for May 6, 2006 at the High School. Picture information will be handed out at coaches meeting. Send sponsorship form to Sonny's for $250.00. Mike will pick out picture frames for sponsorship. We need approximately 38 frames. Doug Brace made a motion to allow Mike to purchase frames and Gary Ziegler seconded this. All in favor.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry will try and arrange a Sea Wolves day again this year. The sign up form is on the website. Garry did receive information on the Pitch/Hit/Run.
BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Open gym schedule is out and going well. There are 2-3 gyms going at one time. Anyone who would like to volunteer and help it is appreciated. Need to supervise children who are not participating in the open gym. Need to avoid any damage to any of the gyms.
SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Open gyms are going well. Need ice packs for all the gyms in case of injury. Mike will get some packs from the flag football team. Frank will order 2 cases to divide between the gyms. Jeff and Jake made 6 nets and these are all at the different gyms. The various schools do have a list of dos and don’ts, please follow. Girls who want to pitch will attend and share time with the boys pitching time frames.
UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Jim has dates set for training, March 18, April 8 and 15. Coaches are encouraged to attend. A form will be available at sign-ups if you are interested in being an ump this year. All umps from last year will be notified. Training will probably be from 9-3. Jim is going to Williamsport in April. Jeff Jones made a motion to allow Jim to purchase 30 Baseball and 20 Softball umpire books for a cost of $75.00, Mike Herring seconded this. All in favor.
TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: No report.
SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No report. Jeff Luke doesn’t want to do this job this year. He has a spreadsheet for anyone interested in taking this task over.
UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Brian Smith supplied information on Vendors for the uniforms. Doug Brace made a motion to go with Arena Apparel for regular season uniforms; Joe Welch seconded this. A vote was taken, 11 are in favor, 2 apposed, passed. A motion was made to hold on a decision for tournament shirts. Umpire shirts will also be made through Arena Apparel.
FIELD MAINTENANCE: The league has decided to install the gate by fields 4/5 at the complex.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: Frank could not attend tonight. He will set up 1-2 dates for equipment to be handed out. He will place order with J&S in a couple of weeks.
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: Check was sent in again. When we receive our certificate we will supply a copy to all the schools. We sent $500 in; total premium is roughly $2,904.10.
OLD BUSINESS: Garry, Rod, Darlene attended DEP/Waterford Rec meeting. Waterford Township wants to help with mowing, grading and graveling of the fields. Gary Waite who is President of the Waterford Rec Association was also at this meeting. Waterford Rec will be re-established and monthly meetings will be held. DEP wants someone that has a stable organization to own the complex. More info from DEP will be forthcoming. Both organizations will work together with the Township to organize who can do what to maintain the complex and its fields.Tax-exempt status is still being worked on. Mike wants the financial information supplied to him so he can start working on the grant.
No lawn mower information yet, to be supplied at next meeting.
